- To get promoted to the post of Loco Pilot (Goods), an ALP requires a minimum of 2 years as a diesel assistant/electric assistant and 60,000 Km of running experience.
- An assistant driver works as an assistant on goods trains, then on passenger trains, and finally on express trains.
