SBI PO Exam Pattern 2018
SBI conducts the PO Exam in three phases which are as follows:
SBI PO Exam Pattern Phase-1: SBI PO Preliminary Examination
This exam consists of three sections wherein 100 objective type questions are asked.
|No.||Name of Test||No. of Questions||Maximum Marks||Duration|
|1||English Language||30||30||20 minutes|
|2||Numerical Ability||35||35||20 minutes|
|3||Reasoning Ability||35||35||20 minutes|
- The candidates have to qualify in each of these sections by at least securing the cut-off marks for each section to be decided by the bank and then only, they will be declared pass and called for the Mains Exam.
- It should be noted that, unlike the previous year’s Pre exam, this year SBI has introduced sectional time limit i.e. candidates won’t get more time other than the given time for each individual section and they can’t even swap to other sections once they get started with one of those
SBI PO Exam Pattern Phase-2: SBI PO Mains Examination
In the Mains Exam, 155 objective type questions divided into four sections are asked. Every section has a specified time limit which means candidates won’t get more time other than the given time for each individual section and they can’t even swap to other sections once they get started with one of those.
|Sl. No.||Name of Test||No. of Questions||Maximum Marks||Duration|
|1||Reasoning & Computer Aptitude||45||Total Maximum marks are 200||60 Minutes|
|2||English Language||35||40 Minutes|
|3||Data Analysis & Interpretation||35||45 Minutes|
|4||General/Banking/Economy Awareness||40||35 Minutes|
Note: There will be a penalty for wrong answers marked in the Objective Tests. For each question for which a wrong answer has been given by the candidate, one-fourth of the marks assigned to that question will be deducted as penalty to arrive at corrected score. If a question is left blank, i.e. if no answer is marked by the candidate, there will be no penalty for that question.
Immediately after completing the above test, the candidates will have to take the descriptive test wherein they will be asked to write letters and essays by typing on the computer. The time allowed for this section will be 30 minutes and the candidates must qualify this section by securing the minimum marks to be decided by the bank. The descriptive test paper of only those candidates will be evaluated who are declared qualified in the Objective test.
SBI PO Exam Pattern Phase-3: Group Exercises (20 Marks) & Interview (30 Marks)
After the candidates are declared qualified in the Mains Exam, they are called for the third and last stage i.e. the Group Exercises and Interview.
In the Group Exercises, candidates are divided into groups and given random topics for group discussion/debate wherein they are closely judged by the panel. They are marked on the basis of their performance in the group exercises and they are finally called for the Personal Interview. Those who secure the qualifying marks in this stage and come in the merit list as decided by the bank are recruited as Probationary Officers.
Final Score Calculation for SBI PO Exam
The final merit list of the candidates is made by the bank by aggregating the converted marks of Mains Exam and Group Exercise & Interview out of 100 for each category. Appointments are made from among the top-ranked candidates in each category.
