The Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) conducts recruitment exams to fill up vacancies in the state administration. The BPSC Exam Calendar and Pattern of the different exams can be found on the official website and in the official notification/ advertisement released by the examination body.
As per the BPSC Exam Pattern, there are three stages in the 68th Combined Competitive Exam:
- Prelims
- Mains
- Interview

BPSC Prelim Exam Details
- The first stage which is known as Prelims is a screening test.
- The Prelims exam consists of only one paper which is General Studies Paper.
- The BPSC Prelims is for a total of 150 marks.
- The Prelim exam duration is 2 hours.
- As per the latest pattern, all questions in Prelims are of objective type (MCQs).
- There is no negative marking in BPSC Prelims. It is a qualifying exam.
- The Prelims Syllabus contains the following topics:
- General Science
- National and International Events of importance
- Geography
- Geography of Bihar
- History of Bihar and Indian History
- Indian Polity and Economy
- Changes in the Economy of Bihar post-independence
- Indian National Movement and Role of Bihar
- General Mental Ability
- The minimum qualifying marks in Prelims are:
- General Category – 40%
- BC – 36.5%
- OBC – 34%
- Women/SC/ST/PwD – 32%
- Among the candidates who score more than the minimum qualifying marks, the final list of candidates selected for BPSC Mains will be prepared based on the number of vacancies.
- After the Prelims Result is declared, the selected candidates have to fill and submit the application form for BPSC Mains.
BPSC Exam 2023 Schedule
As per schedule, Prelims Exam will be conducted on 12 February 2023 and BPSC 68th Admit Card 2023 will be released 10 Days before the exam date. The candidates who filled up the application form should collect the admit card or call letter from bpsc.bih.nic.in and then appear in the exam as per the timings mentioned on it.
All the applicants who pass the exam will get a chance to appear in the Mains Examination which will be conducted one month after the results are announced.
